The word "regular" is pronounced this way by Massachusetts people, as they do not pronounce their R's, because they are savage beasts.

Call me naive but for almost my entire life I thought this meant they were locally known by the staff who took their orders and that they were familiar with taking what they usually get and that they meant that by saying a "regular" that they were implying a coffee drink the way they usually would take it and are known for getting it as a regular customer.

No, as it turns out, this strange dialect they use is considered a coffee with cream and sugar.

They are the only people that do this in the country, in no other State is this a known practice, and the Massachusetts people especially the Native Bostonians also think they can walk into a Starbucks or other coffee shop anywhere outside of their state thinking they should be able to order a "regular", or was it a Dunkin Donuts or cheap coffee shop only practice!?

In Europe, the actual "preparation" styles of the Coffee you order, are in the name itself exactly how you order it, nothing "funky" even down to the Espresso shot pull that you desire, such as a "Ristretto". I would think any European would always order by stating a "Caffe Latte" if they were going to order that, what essentially translates to "Coffee with Milk" and then you add in your own sugar, but in America, they butcher everything, and Americans think you can just order a Coffee drink as "Latte" in Europe, which will mean you only get served Milk.
