A Very Good, Thought-Provoking Documentary About "Pleasure"
And the biggest defining factor as to why we need More and More Pleasure constantly, and why it's never enough, because it's all about trying to overcome all of the Pain and Suffering, which is endless.
There is not enough Pleasure that can be experienced here to overcome Pain and Suffering, and the Pleasure only masks the Pain and Suffering in the moment.
While it's interesting how others depend a lot on getting "Likes" or playing video games to feel pleasure, for me it's always about eating good food, online shopping and listening to music.
I live for pleasure, and I don't care about anything else.
Your whole existence, you are told to give up pleasure, comfort and your own desires, only to fulfill it for "others".
The only problem with this documentary, is it is premised on the idea that Life or this Existence has purpose. If there was purpose, then it could make sense to not focus on pleasure so much, or the net benefit / result would have to be that more pleasure existed for all.
It is just another mind fuck, set up by the archons.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't delay gratification, you are going to suffer more down the line...a mind fuck.
Which really points to the stupidity of this world. I think balance is the key. Have all the fun you want, but make good moves, to set up the future. I don't work too hard, for example, but I show up to work, so I can have good things later, and retire earlier.
@Joey Aragon,
DeleteYeah, exactly. By promoting this sense of "guilt" that one must delay gratification, it really does not show the big picture of where these sacrifices are really going, and to whom benefits. Because the one who sacrifices their own happiness for someone else's, means that the "someone else" may be someone who never is delaying their own gratification.
The other flaw about Human Programming, is that suffering can give a perceived "illusion" or feeling of the benefit of suffering when one feels relief by pleasure. But this also proves that pleasure is MERELY only the "relief" or "break" from suffering.
For example, when a runner "runs" and feels better after from the Endorphins, the Endorphins are just trying to mitigate the suffering from the stress.
When one deprives themselves of a certain food for a long time, it only "suddenly" tastes better when you punish yourself from it, not because it actually "does" taste better, it is of course all still the same! But hormones or the way your pleasure centers process things, make it seem like it's all that better. All of it is a trap to make you think there is some long-term benefit or reward to suffering and denying your needs. Even though there really isn't.
@Joey Aragon,
DeleteAll that being said, what Humans also face to recognize in the light of all this... Is the fact the "default" state of Humanity's experience, is Discomfort, Pain, Suffering and Boredom... If Humans really understood that fact, they would hate this existence and refuse even more to believe in it or bring more life here. But the artificial sense of programming and also if someone is immediately removed from an uncomfortable situation and placed in a situation that feels like Paradise, this programs the brain to IMMEDIATELY forget about everything that's bad about life, even their own "problems" in life.

ReplyDeleteThank you for your post...and I agree with it....
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that much of how I approach life is based on my ability to "repress" the bad of this world. That is the coping mechanism I use the most. Sad, but true.
@Joey Aragon, I suppose in one way or another, all of us are repressing the bad aspects of this life, it's just a difference of how honest we are about it (or not) to ourselves.
DeleteFor example, I typically use Music and Energy Drinks as a form of escapism because it dulls the horrible things and boredom in this world.
We have a tendency to ignore the dangers of boredom, and boredom can even haunt you while waiting for an appointment, or even a concert, or traveling to a country.
Boredom has the exact identical destructive processes and cortisol response as stress and high anxiety / depression does, and it doesn't matter the circumstance or even if you are intellectually "fine" with the boredom yourself, on a conscious level. Your own biology is not. So boredom also ends up enslaving, and even harming us.
Even with what happened to Goatis one time when he was stranded at the airport some years back, is a pure example of how destructive boredom, especially in a confined and controlled environment, can be... I began to see how it affected him not just psychologically but physically, and so it's just always destructive and very stressful.
Does boredom perhaps mean, as humans, we were always destined to advance as much as we did?
DeleteI mean to be fair, there are tribes in africa who aren't that developed but seem? to be enjoying life. And I suppose if you live in freedom, even things like exploring can be fun- an airport like you said, is dull controlled and confined.
@T345, Surely some cultures might have better socialization or activities that help to escape the "boredom". But boredom still always remains a "default" state, that's where the problem is...
DeleteIn fact, when it comes to my reluctance from travel, boredom is actually 50% of the battle I face with getting sick of it. Over my life of all the travel I've done, I've come to utterly despise it. All the waiting around and planning, it really is so stressful. I almost can't be bothered with a 3 1/2 hour airplane trip, I began to really notice after 2015 that my patience levels have completely dropped, and after COVID, I almost can't be bothered to wait around for anything anymore. Constantly sighing of boredom.
Thanks for the comment, PSA...
ReplyDeleteI was chatting with a friend the other day, and we were talking about his aunt, who recently died. She was on oxygen support for a few years, and suffered through that. I made a comment about how "at least she doesn't have to suffer anymore" and he agreed. My friend is not an NPC, and he understood well before me that bringing children into this world, and existing in this world is a joke. I thought he was quite negative back then, talking like this. But, now I see it better. He is 100 percent correct. We live in utter hell. The NPC's have taken over. They run this planet and are controlled by the archons all day long.
So, that is another thing that is annoying about our world: We have to always face death coming at us down the line, and may have to suffer before death....this can be truly horrifying and painful. The media is always making it seem that death is just the worst thing, but it really is the best thing, if you can see all the relief a person can get from it.
@Joey Aragon, That is all very interesting!
DeleteBut yes, even an NPC will absolutely "see" those results, at some point. The difference is that they are not actively thinking about it and choose to ignore it, up until the inevitable, with either those around them aging and dying off, and including themselves nearing the Grim Reaper...
I can tell you right now with a lot of older people I'm surrounded by, that once their significant others die off, they begin to become very grim as they begin to realize the reality of our mortality coming closer to home than ever... And they often recluse to themselves because they usually spend the rest of their days reflecting over their life, and the events they experience, and even admitting it silently to themselves, that none of this all was worth it.
It is true that there is a concerted effort by the Media and many other forces to make it seem like death is the worst thing, including the fact that this reality itself, and the faces you will see on most people who die including animals, often makes it look "negative".
All this further programs people's drive for survival.
You wouldn't believe it but...... I've seen people virtue signal over how 'bad' they felt when their relative died lol. I wish I had the tiktok video but I blocked her account after I saw it haha
DeleteNot that I'm saying it's wrong that you feel bad, and I also used to view death as very bad, but changed eventually...but virtue signaling over it?? Come on now...
