Punks Back Then and Punks Today
Modern Leftists don't like this video.
If you grew up during the times I did and remember these scenes how they used to be, while there were some "Queers" and whole Transformer Crew, they were very much "segregated" in the Punk and Goth Scenes in the early days, and most of us did not like them very much. They were like their own "clique" and used to hang out in literally their own corners or separate bars and most of the Music venues.
They were always known to be trouble makers and drama queens and basically "losers" who were unwanted and unliked, and that's why they had no choice but to isolate themselves.
That began to change slowly in the later part of the 90's, and here today, these scenes are 100% all about LGBTQ.
The point is that the overwhelming majority of Punks and Goths when these subcultures began, were majority Heterosexual.
This current pedigree of so-called "Punk Rawkers" and "Mall Goths" or "e-girls / e-boys / k-pop" or whatever variety of fruit loops they are, are not Real Punks and Goths, never have been, and are completely detached from anything including the Music from the 70's and 80's.
I miss these old days so much. The thing is, back then, they were not trying to be edgy. They were naturally edgy. Today, these younger kids are trying to be edgy but are real conformists.
I dislike in this video how the Woman who criticizes them of being "Conformist" just because they dress similar, but it's how one identifies others, and the thing is every Punk or Goth always had their own style or form of expression that was unique to them.
There are many different dress styles, and an aesthetic that matches different subgenres of the specific type of Music they are into.
Also take notice to the fact that the girl talks about how the Punk scene then was all about avoiding the obsession with labels. Today's "Alternative" scene is all about Labels and Pro-nounds, and even "Spectrums" of where they belong in their labels.
But this is a great video clip, because it even shows that the scene from America, with American Punks, how far far different things have strayed away now.
The most important topic too that is rarely discussed is the fact that Johnny Ramone from the "Ramones" was a Conservative.
In the 70's and 80's, there was no political "monopoly" on Punk or Goth. But today, the Leftists have a near complete political ideology they have monopolized in these Scenes, and I really hate calling them "Scenes" anymore, because they really aren't anymore, they are a joke.
