I'm really losing my marbles with this fucking AI SLOP
And we must remember to call it AI SLOP whenever possible, especially since it pisses off the Technocrats that people use that term.
After 2008, a fear culture emerged around meeting strangers from the Internet, and especially worsening with the launch of Social Media which really started becoming a thing by 2010.
In the last few days even just when writing e-mails, this garbage that I never asked for or signed up on automatically gives me "summaries" of what's contained in the E-mail message from the user as if I am too lazy to read through it myself, and this will DEFINITELY be making people more lazy into the future, I can already see it now.
Secondly, as I'm typing messages, the AI automatically gives guesses not only based on previous responses but automated suggestions to what a "Human" response would be to questions and comments in the e-mails.
You see how they just shove this crap into our faces.
I also feel ready to lash out at the next person who I say repeats the phrase "AI is going to be the future so we might as well get used to it."
That is EXACTLY an NPC phrase, and of course since we have these NPC's, they are the enablers of AI SLOP.
Whereas others may see "convenience" in this crap, I see it as more clutter on my screen.
I long for the days when everything between PC's and Internet used to be so simple and clean, organized, and where a Computer looked more like a Computer.
Computers were SO nice back in the 90's. When Windows 95 came out, to be honest, that was like the most nostalgic and interesting of times between Online or anything you could do with technology.
Even despite how much the technology advanced, that period was the largest breakthrough of everything in Computing from the old days of DOS. And the period between 1995 - 2008, those were the best years to ever meet girls (or anyone) from online.
Also, most girls would respond to e-mails and chat with you all day long and meeting was extremely easy. You didn't even need dating apps, that stuff didn't exist because it was easy enough to just browse people or connect with people in chats of a hobby you were interested in, even Music. It really was that simple. You wouldn't get these one word answers or constant no answers at all, or as many bot profiles or user accounts.
After 2008, a fear culture emerged around meeting strangers from the Internet, and especially worsening with the launch of Social Media which really started becoming a thing by 2010.
Consider this, today over 50% of the user accounts on the Internet, even YouTube, are actual BOTS that are made to seem like they are Human.
What was nice about that era in 1995 though, which we will never experience again, is that a Computer was simply "restrained" to the Computer, and when you were away from it, the rest of your life was not so computerized but normal, so we had more privacy and things were also less invasive and just much more manageable.
Not all this constant "pop-ups" and alarm sounds and notifications on devices like we have today, endless nag screens and just stupid nonsense that doesn't even interest me or anyone who has a sense of value.
You could still escape your computer and the Internet in those days, and go out and rent a Movie at the store with someone, and even that has been lost. Netflix doesn't quite "thrill me".
I'm currently looking into Linux Mint, when I have downtime that is one of my next projects probably for this year, but not before the launch of the forum.
im done with life in general
ReplyDeleteI’m resentful of not being able to experience those times myself but I for sure can remember how good the layout of sites and Windows was back then, it felt magical. I think social media was created for the narcissists, it poisoned the internet.
ReplyDeleteAnd the case of the Internet is another example of how life is a scam. Now that we have faster internet connection and faster computers compared to 20 years ago the internet is shit and fake now. When it was fun to use people had to deal with very slow connections. Not many think about this and personally it truly disgusts me things in general have to be this way.
Linux Mint is a great choice and it’s amazing for reviving old computers. If you’re using Linux for basic stuff it’s unlikely you had any problem with it because it can be SO frustrating to use at times.
@nothingiserious,
DeleteEXACTLY, the Layouts were just with so much less cluttered and everything was intuitive and not so invasive. You didn't need to sign up for accounts for everything, even so much as to get some daily "news", which is now retarded.
Social Media is absolutely designed for Narcissists, and what I hate about it the most is it basically has become an endless Echo Chamber of validation where inflated egos can get themselves pumped up even more than ever, based on hype and utter nonsense.
It took an even worse turn once platforms especially like YouTube began offering "monetization" options for content, as this even made the Narcissists more hungry to do anything for attention, clicks and subscribers.
A lot of YouTubers and content creators are very short-sighted though as I've said many times in the past, because let's be real, how many of these people will be able to truly be phenomenal without becoming "boring" or losing relevance over time? How many years decade in, decade out do they see themselves really placating their audiences daily with videos all to maintain relevance while not having much of a life outside of it?
On average, our lives usually have a major change of pace every 7-10 years due to changing life circumstances, could be a major move, a change of jobs, a new relationship with someone, health issues, having children or what have you to where sooner or later, one will not be able to likely give as much attention or provide the same quality content that they once used too.
This is why many now have been resorting to clickbait and other people piggybacking off of trending topics based on a word for word video tag of what is getting the most views.
It's so clear to see how most people have no real social lives now outside of the Internet because of how they've let these technologies change them and prime them for the AI.
I have been reading a lot of great things about the Linux Mint, and I have seen it definitely has come along way. I don't mind having limited features for the general use of it, the only thing I've heard which sucks is that the Sound Quality and options are still quite limited for Music playback with MP3's and I might need to use "Wine" for VM to use one of my preferred MP3 Players, because Music is like at least 1/3 if not more of what I'm actively using my computer for, if not playing it as a CD or record. If I'm very disappointed with the sound, I'm looking at just using a junk machine with Windows and nothing else but the Music Library and Player only for that purpose.
Modern web layouts portray very well the dullness and emptiness of modern people.
DeleteZoomers at least experienced a small portion of what the old internet was but Gen Alpha... they are truly doomed with all the soulrot content they are growing up with.
Yeah that’s the thing with Linux there’s always a problem not matter what, that’s why I always stick to the Ubuntu based ones like Mint as they receive the most support. The Linuxbros claim how perfect their OS is which is a lie, there’s always something that stop working or that lacks compatibility in a much larger scale compared to Windows. Try if Wine can run the MP3 player which should open it in case there’s no problem. If it’s a relatively old software there’s a better chance Wine can run it just fine.
@nothingiserious,
DeleteYep, for sure... Don't get me wrong, while the technology has come a long way, Internet is MUCH Faster, E-Commerce is hugely better now, but outside of those things the only thing I really became more impressed by is the Hi-Definition Screen resolution we now have...
Outside of that, the first major breakthrough in the PC world was when the GUI (Graphical User Interface) was invented above the Low Level Code, and that almost was like "magical" to my eyes when I first saw it. I never have been as impressed since, and it obviously even made Video Games for "Gamers" evolve the way they have into what appear as almost life-like scenery now.
>Yeah that’s the thing with Linux there’s always a problem not matter what<
Yeah you ain't kidding Man, I remember when I used to play with it that there were so many Apps or new hardware things you add that don't just simply "work" and needed all kinds of bizarre configuration. And even then, the features and power you get to take full advantage were still heavily limited compared to Windows.
That really is the only reason it probably hasn't become all that much more popular, although I think that it's slowly changing as of last year going forward, because many of us are just sick of this new BS.
Surely, you are right about the Linuxbros, like anyone, they are biased in their own worldview, but what they forget to state is that the Linux OS is only "Theoretically" perfect, meaning that it could serve as the foundation towards that someday, but it's still nowhere near that yet :D The potential exists though.
Because all the other OS's are full of bloatware, spyware and other SLOP now.
Going forward, I probably will only be using computers for researching parts, ordering items as needed, e-mail and managing the coming forum.
I really couldn't care about anything else, the Internet outside of that corner is a Sewer to me.
