Almost ALL Modern Ambitions that relate to College / Career / Occupations of any kind, are 100% Soul-Sucking

I'm not sure if the extent of the message I want to portray comes through anywhere near to the level of the thoughts that reminisce through my head on this particular point in the topics about Work and Career, but more than ever as I think about this "Digital" or "Information" Age we live in, I have come to see just how much of a soul-sucking endeavor it is to become a part of almost anything in Modern Society, whether you work for someone else, or even open your own business if you do not keep your overhead and spread "tight", and this even would be something applied to a Social Media Content Creator as well, like on YouTube.

The COMPLETE Edge for Passion and Enjoyment in Life, including what one usually does for work, has been entirely eviscerated.

If one is not careful in the cultivation of their own pursuits of starting their own Business, the same thing can easily creep up on you.

Part of the problem stems not from the nature of conducting commerce as such, but in the way our Modern Society is organized, culturally, especially in a country like the United States, but also even in Germany.

Look at the Modern German, let's be honest.

The Modern German is a stiff robot.  Only concerned with facts and data.

When it comes to the way Modern Businesses behave, "Growth" and even making Meticulous analysis over every detail of the Earnings of the business, including other on-going efforts to stay relevant, basically suck up all the Time, Energy and Passion someone has from the get-go of running that business.

The tragedy of this, is that if someone becomes too immersed  in it, and most eventually do, they will eventually become a "boor" and act very mechanical, and approach every social situation with others, even outside of conducting business, in the same manner.

A particular attribute of Modern Business, also involves always trying to twist words around to seem "Positive", "Open" and never negative or necessarily truthful, particularly when it does not benefit the Business Profits and Image.

This also translates to Public Life as well, to the extent that Modern people, especially in America, do not like hearing anything negative, and always expect to be told something positive or inspiring at every step of the way.

Then there are the Litigation Matters. The more one becomes involved with trying to make it big or with the Legalese, the more one can actually dig their own grave in the process, and essentially it makes you have to become a cut-throat person in a way to where you begin to lack personality and character.

Even when one chooses to open a Business, everything begins from needing to have an Inspection, and all these requirements and a Business License.

You need to pay all kinds of ridiculous routine fees.

I always say, these days, from the moment one sets up their storefront, the passion and enjoyment of whatever your "craft" may be is already zapped from these measures.

This is the case with so many business owners I know, and it of course exists throughout the Corporate Culture.

Everything becomes about "Saving Face".

What I've noticed in recent years with how bad and toxic this mentality is in Modern Western Culture, especially in America, is that when Businesses begin to "fail" or even face bankruptcy, even something  as humble as a Small Restaurant or Coffee shop, the Business owners of these establishments don't even have the honor or decency to be forthright about the reason behind their closure, and many times, they will pretend that they are "closing down" for a 2 Week Vacation or Renovations, instead of announcing it as closure directly.

Another thing too is that because of the structure of Western Society, it is almost impossible and dangerous to ever establish friendships or closeness with customers, even if it may seemingly be mutual or happenstance.

There is a major "Wall" between both sides of the "Service Counter" that even transcends the Service Counter at the Business Establishment.

The amount of responsibilities that are required in the workplace nowadays are just also out of control, and a Business owner really has such little legroom on all kinds of things because of Centralized production and distribution systems, limited vendors and suppliers, and with very little "free competition" in Markets and between Vendors.

It's no wonder that "vices" are such a big thing for people when they leave their job for the day or weekends, because of what is entailed from owning and operating a business these days.

Or even the employee who is expected to show up at work for 8 hours a day and must put a fake smile on their face, and pretend that everything  is just fine...

Imagine also having to be "fake" in most of your interactions with other people ALL DAY LONG, even though there is no logical or true need for you to even be "fake" with them. Only because either your Employer says you must do so because of "Customer Service" reasons, or so as to not leave a big "blow" by telling someone something shocking.

And also because of the "fear" of being misinterpreted by someone, or them trying to take advantage of you or some other nonsense. The reality is, most people willingly adhere and accept working and living by these terms, every single day in this world.

  1. Corporate world is terrible. The best move is to find people you like and seek employment with them. Smarter people will start their own business and pick their own hours. Either model works. Most people are catching on to these predators in corporate...so they will have to change their ways to attract talent.
