Audiophiles - The Most Toxic Community That MIGHT Actually Ever Have Existed
Although this has nothing to do with the website, it's only from a hobby of mine, just thought I'd reiterate this point, but my god did I make a mistake even getting involved in these circles again after many years of having nothing to do with them, and I remember why I wanted nothing to do with them many decades ago.
I really question how a group of people can become that obsessive and ridiculous to where they lack any kind of imagination or possibilities outside of their pre-conceived notions about something!?
I wonder if anything is "remotely" similar like this into people who are big into Cars, Golf, Boating or other hobbies like those. I'm not into those things, so I wouldn't know otherwise, but this is just insane!
They were toxic back then, but their level of toxicity and how snobby and full of themselves these pathetic losers are, is actually insane. Audiophiles are clinically retarded, they don't even actually listen to Music, and they love picking an argument over the most minuscule things.
Whether you can believe it or not, Audiophiles, are WAY worse than even Feminists and even Leftists in general, or any kind of Cult Movement I've ever seen in my life!
You want to talk about an Elite Club, and one totally full of some of the biggest unwanted losers in life!?
They are definitely to be found among Audiophiles!
These people go around claiming how much they love Quality Audio, but they use "Music" as a tool and see it as utility to what it can do for their "Gear", and have no real appreciation for actual Music or chilling out whatsoever.
I've never seen such an uptight group of especially particularly Older Men who are so stuck in their own ways as the biggest losers and you do one thing out of line that doesn't fit their pre-conceived notion of something, and they are ready to throw a hissy fit and the worst part is all the other "Audiophile friends" of theirs begin to gang up to protect and defend that person at all costs, and especially the gear in question.
What's even worse too, is that these people contradict themselves constantly and change their narratives around when it suits any situation with their advice they give to others, and that they are even willing to defend crappy "overly" expensive speakers, just for the idea that because it's so Expensive and such a special High-End brand, that it "INEVITABLY" is better because it's not a mainstream brand, even if that model has known problems and are easily blown.
These guys will sit on the internet all day and use Propaganda means to defend certain companies and their products, even if these companies don't deserve their praise, only because they want to keep the Capitalist ideas that the Speakers or products are worth their price [even if they really aren't], because the obsession behind the community rests more on keeping it as an Elite Club that keeps certain overpriced and redundant gear to be overpriced like that, so as to keep it "all to themselves" and others out.
The thing too is that if you expose a design flaw about a certain product, the defenders of the product, will fight tooth and nail to denounce what you demonstrate as "rubbish" and insist that you have some sort of an agenda or are trying to damage the brand's reputation, or that you have no experience or don't know what you're talking about.
These people aren't even employees of these companies!
A lot of them will simply be unwilling to accept a brand they are biased on, especially if it's ultimately expensive, as having any kind of quality or design flaws whatsoever.
Probably as an internalization of their own inner self-hatred for making impulsive or regretful purchases that they don't want to ever own up to as a "mistake" in their life, so they choose to instead defend the product at ALL COSTS, even though there is NO BENEFIT and NOTHING in it for them to do so!
They scout the internet for ANYONE talking bad about a certain Brand, even though almost all stuff is made these days in China or somewhere in East Asia, and they have little to no influence behind the Brands or their Quality Control, Design and Manufacturing processes.
Basically, among this pathetic community, you are not allowed to voice an opinion different than what ALL THE OTHERS mutually agree on as what's good or not, or they will start problems with you.
Even if you make a statement that you aren't a fan of a certain material or design, they will pick fights with you over it.
They'll even pick fights with you and try to start problems with you if you either happened to leave something out whether purposely or just by chance because you only focused on answering or responding to a certain angle of a question or topic, and then jump to conclusions and presumptions about literally EVERYTHING and begin to suggest you are "ignorant" and how much more experience they have in such and such and how one's answer is "ridiculous".
Everything to them is a "pissing contest" and they have such limited, restricted, linear thinking and they get impulsive and jump to the most ridiculous hysterical conclusions from anything someone says.

I ended up getting into an argument with some stupid Boomer, and this guy is basically my "Nemesis" and all he does now is make it a point to take stabs at every remark I've made in every opportunity he gets, and mocks "metalheads", thinking that he is all better because he listens to "Blues".
The behavior of this community reminds me of the obsession like the Anti-Goatis crew who are busy scouting online for anyone who defends Goatis or is a "fanboy"!
But in all honesty, I have never experienced the level of toxicity from any group like these fucktards in my life. Not even joking one bit about how bad they are, there is not ANY comparable group of people I've seen with the level of toxicity and mental issues those people have, completely anxiety-ridden and high-strung at all hours of the day, but once again, likely from the guilt they have in all the money they've wasted in their life.
When these people could spend $2000 for something just as good or better, they'll instead spend $10,000 for something, thinking they absolutely got the "better deal", until something goes wrong.
And they are even way, WAY worse than than they were 20, 30, 40 years ago, probably as a result from the Internet.

The fact that such people like these exist, and are actually "real" members of society, really makes me feel like I'm living in the Twilight Zone.
The way these people are, the only thoughts that come to my mind in how I'd love to deal with them is to create a virus or bacteria that works to eradicate them as the disease they are, with another disease!
The more expensive you get with audio gear the less of a difference you can hear as a human, there's only rare cases where you really need something expensive, but it's only for professional work with sound. Audiophiles are just stuck-up and want to feel special, superior to others. They're the type of people that will pretend to hear the difference if you show them 2 sets of speakers with the same specs, & tell them that 1 is much more expensive than the other lol. All just to seem superior, it stems from insecurity.

DeleteThey do pretend a lot to hear the difference unless their ears are just playing tricks or they have bad hearing, but it's also been demonstrated that you can change the Equalization of frequencies or Capacitors to give a different "sound" and they will immediately just believe the unit is all that much higher quality without realizing what's going on. They are a bunch of neanderthals! Definitely insecure AF. And I have not found ANY of them for the most part to actually really care for the Music they claim to listen to or appreciate any Musical technique.

ReplyDeleteAlso PSA I was wondering, do you know what it means when you meet someone and they 'bring out' something in you that you don't really know yourself to be, but that 'feels' right and natural and being around them makes you feel uplifted and happy, and after meeting them you feel an 'electric' energy that takes days to wear off from your interaction with them?
I met someone on a plane a few months ago like this, and we started texting after, and I've noticed after texting, it just doesn't feel the same as in person, and I feel like I'm in a different headspace too when I'm texting him.
On one hand I'm conflicted because it wasn't the strong, I know/understand exactly who this person is feeling I got, like when I was 12 and met this guy at summer camp who I could feel what he was thinking and felt like I was exactly like him type of way. And I actually realized I had some initial 'biases' and misunderstandings I projected onto this new guy for example, for being so open- as I am insecure and don't understand why someone would act like that because I would be too afraid to, but it's actually made me question myself as perhaps I am not completely who I think I am... for example I used to think I was naturally negative and angry, but then I moved away from my parents and it almost completely left me. So maybe..
I also feel a familiarity and empathy for him, and he'll say things that will make me think.... wait a minute, we're on the same track here..., and we also have similar political views & stances on topics which is pretty uncommon tbh.

DeleteYes, they or "we" should I say, do exist. But the thing, they are a really drab group of people. The thing as the saying goes, People who love Music use their equipment to Play Music. Audiophiles use Music to "Play" their equipment, and that's the difference, and the reason why I don't get along with most of them.
They were pretty bad even decades ago, but I completely underestimated how many thousand-fold times worse they are now, probably with the on-going social decay of social and influence of the Internet. They pretty much jump on anything you say, you literally almost cannot say ANYTHING around them, and I am not exaggerating one bit with how much worse they are than your average Feminist or Leftist, and at least politically speaking, MANY of them to tend to be Leftist. Whethere there is any advanced conspiracy to that, one can only wonder, but Leftists DO like to get their hands on anything.
They are a bunch of obese loser nerds, most of them, who never made anything of their lives. I even got reamed out in another comment for suggesting to someone that they should bring their Smartphone with Music of songs that they regularly listen to and which also have sound that would be great to demonstrate to sample "Speaker Sets" in a Store that had Demo Studio rooms. I gave this advice to some beginner who asked a question, and some so-called "expert" tried criticizing how "Oh, you don't know what you're talking about, that's a bad idea, the music is going to be compressed because it's in MP3 format so it won't sound accurate".
Who the fuck said the formats would be in MP3!? They could easily be in the uncompressed WAVE format or FLAC. It just goes to show you how neurotic these people are. They also have strange obsessions thinking that spending thousands of dollars of hyped up speaker cable is going to give them a Signal of Audio from the "Gods", whereas a Pure Copper Speaker wire of any kind will be inferior.
The reason I hate them though is that they actually have no true appreciation for Music, and you find that these people are always spending time being finnick, unhappy and having problems with their HiFi systems, always incomplete and never satisfied, while I sit back and have "complete" systems. When I want something new, I begin building "new projects" with entirely new systems.
But really they are just horrible, horrible, snappy people, I've never been attacked and even on the most outrageous, trivial topics, through all kinds of forums and discussion topics by anyone as I have with those sort of people.
I even got banned and had my comments deleted because they were deemed "offensive" and "aggressive" just for stating when Sony started to go downhill after they shifted manufacturing of Hi-Fi products out of Japan to other countries. That's how uber sensitive and neurotic these people are.
I now have a major issue with a "troll" on one of these sites now, as a result, I may post a blog on that after but it may be some pointless boring drivel, but I still may post it just to illustrate how toxic and ridiculous our society is getting now. This guy is a threatening a lawyer on me even, which I know will not happen, and I am threatening his life.
Yeah what I can tell you is that MOST people hate people who are Open or Unfolded, it makes us all easy and open targets for attack unfortunately, but that's the only way I can be, and even Goatis is the same. People hate us for that, and the real reason they hate it is because they envy that we can be so non-chalant and just take life as it comes and let the chips fall where they may, and that we aren't busy chasing status or are unbothered by other trivial things that many other people are bothered.
These things are really why I HATE THIS WORLD NOW MORE THAN EVER.

But I'd still be pissed if I innocently asked for some info and anyone had such an a**hole response. Idk whenever anyone acts like this, I get the sense there's some sorta extreme lack of maturity anad/or emotional intelligence, because certainly your emotions about a f'ing sound machine wouldn't be so strong to act like that lol.

I remember when I was young playing a GOT roblox game, and the owner handed over the reigns to this hyper sensitive atsc player for a few days while he was on break, and she mass banned people for disagreeing with her, and then she even started banning high ranking players on discord for criticizing her, so everyone quit the game, and she had a meltdown, then the guy was forced to come back from his 'vacation' imagine his shock, and tried to get everyone to come back but they didn't lol.

DeleteYeah, it's actually such a true thing about these "Audiophiles" that it's a known statement in their circles. I like to listen to Music. I'm not going to argue with Nerds about silly things like DACs and cables.
Sure made an error even getting back involved in those circles, only reason I did so was because I've had a renewed interest in upgrading my equipment and wanted to give some advice to others and also find from others their experiences owning certain equipment before purchasing, and these rats will even come down on you for bringing up 2 different "models" of something and bitch at you for suggesting two entirely different "items".
That's how ridiculous and limited they are in their mindset! It's like "DUH", I want to get an idea between two VASTLY different items.
These type of people, no lie, in less than 24 hours will ban you from their websites / delete your comments, even on ANYTHING. WORSE than YouTube, Worse than TikTok or anywhere else.
I might get a week or a month or so before I get banned by making comments on some Feminist YouTube Video or some other thing.
When I got the banhammer done to me on the first website, I was like "WTF, is this a prank or something!?"
I thought they were just messing around with me and making a joke, only to realize my access was restricted and they were seriously going to delete me for referring to certain equipment as "Junk" and for talking about when another brand went Downhill.
Yes, they just banned me because they didn't like my opinion even if it were true and that I was not allowed to say certain things like according to them, and that I was fostering an "unwelcoming" environment to other members who would be made to feel uncomfortable because I might be offending "brands" that they own, because awww, they don't want to be offended if I admitted the truth that it is junk.
This world is full of so many weaklings and losers!
I see all this stuff as the dystopic insanity that will be the entire future, and what will be worse is that the AI will "learn" these techniques and behaviors from Humans because the AI will study that Humans already behave this way with one another, and so it will be the AI who will do this to people.
I think ANYONE who just "bans" people for anything is ridiculous and pathetic, and these people have serious mental and social issues, and they hide behind computers because in real life, you cannot ban, block or censor people and must roll with the punches of life.

Although its not the same thing entirely-I think there are a great deal of people who just love to sperg-out about stuff/gear and musicians seem to be at the forefront of this. There is a video I saw of the 'legendary' producer Steve Albini (whose personality was a prototype of the weedy passive aggressive antifa/redditor type who couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag but would happily smash you over the head with a heavy bicycle lock when you weren't looking-and also a famous ultra Cov-19 Vaxx cuck) showing an interviewer around his recording studio going into excruciating detail about the 'special features' he has had installed to get the 'best sound' which all seems completely random and scientifically suspect but you assume he knows what he is talking about because he is a 'super-producer.' Until, you search further, and find there is another video of him from the 80's where he is younger and just starting out in 'production' in a much cheaper studio that he has 'put together' and he is doing exactly the same 'schtick,' Sperging out about how important it is to have such and such a type of wood to get the best sound etc. I notice it always works both ways with these types, depending on what random 'vibe' they want to portray. For example they will sperg out about how essential such and such a studio or type of equipment/producer was in making their record, and making out it was all kind of like a military grade operation to make their record. On the other hand, the very same people will talk about how unique it was because they used an old cheap studio with some random engineer that they they chose especially to get some 'authentic sound' and start going on about the 'chemistry' in the studio has to be right and blah blah blah and all this pretentious bollocks that serves a form of back slapping self aggrandisement that most people are just happy to go along with and repeat as if they do it makes it sound like they have this same kind of 'secret knowledge.' It goes the same with all these different 'specialities' like Art, Fashion, Cooking etc.

DeleteI'll be damned if it's anywhere nearly as bad with actual Musicians, or at least, the experiences I've had in this were with people who did not outright claim to be Musicians whatsoever but instead "Engineers" and so forth, and the thing is, almost all of them shit-talked about Musicians and claiming that "Musicians don't understand Audio like an Engineer does" and that is a very VERY tunnel-visioned point of view, even if some don't, there are definitely Musicians out there that clearly care about the quality and gear they use for Playing their own Music or listening to other's, yet these people seem to have a problem with them and slam everyone.
It's just almost comical and difficult for me to wrap my head around how so many losers like these exist out there in this world, but apparently they do, and I wonder if they treat the rest of their life regimen between waking, showering, eating or whatever else it is they do the same!
